Why Duda is Ideal for Student-Run Law Blog Websites at Colleges and Universities
Having built a Squarespace website for the Denver Law Review, the online journal for the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Fix8 Media was thrilled when the opportunity presented to rebuild the website in Duda.
“While suitable at the time, the Squarespace law journal just never hit the mark in terms of some of the custom features the Denver Law Review team desired,” says Fix8 Media Creative Director and Duda website design expert Josh Neimark. “When the university returned to us this year to revamp the website—looking to examples such as the Harvard Law Review and Stanford Law Review—we knew we had the perfect solution in Duda.”
For one, the Duda platform has far fewer limitations when it comes to customization and user friendliness. Case in point is the custom footnoting widget Fix8 Media designed, which was developed by fellow Duda Solutions partners Devobal. The custom Duda widget features multiple options: On desktop, footnotes appear to the right of the article in a more traditional format; whereas on mobile they appear in a pop up. “This flexibility enables us to provide the user the best possible experience based on device when reading the law journal,” adds Neimark. “And best of all, unlike in other platforms, the customization does not impact the law review staff’s ability to edit and update the website on their own using the CMS.”
